COVAID

COVAID is an accredited evidence-based intervention aimed at reducing alcohol-related violence. COVAID stands for Control Of Violence for Angry Impulsive Drinkers. It is a highly participatory, structured, cognitive-behavioural intervention, aimed at reducing alcohol-related violence. It does so by helping participants identify strategies for controlling drinking and avoiding the harm caused by violence. There are different versions of COVAID dependent on whether it is to be delivered in a group or one to one setting, and whether it is to be delivered in a community or secure/prison setting.

Training and Materials for COVAID:

All versions of COVAID consist of a theory manual, a programme manual, a materials manual, an evaluation manual, and also a booster session manual. All materials are provided alongside the accredited training also provided by Delight Training.

The training consists of either 10 or 7 days dependent upon trainee’s previous experience of this type of programme. The full ten day training consists of generic facilitation skills training alongside input, practice, and competency assessment around programme knowledge and delivery skills. The 7 day event assumes existing generic facilitation skills training has already been received and so input in this area is omitted.

ASROS

ASRO is a theory-based intervention, incorporating evidence that problematic substance misuse has a significant influence on increasing the likelihood of offending behaviour beyond the use of illegal substances themselves. ASRO stands for ‘Addressing Substance Related Offending’ and is a 20 x 2 hour structured, cognitive-behavioural, group treatment programme. The ultimate aim of ASRO is to reduce offending behaviour by targeting the important factor of problematic substance misuse. ASRO is a community based programme. ASRO-S is an adaptation for use in a secure setting.

Training and Materials for ASRO-S:
